Ingredients Needed

The ingredients list may look long, but that’s only because there are three separate layers that each have a few additional ingredients. All 3 layers start with a store-bough package of some type, so it comes together very quickly. Promise!

– Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer

  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix : This is a bag of dried cookie mix. You will find it in the baking aisle near the boxed cake mixes and brownie mixes.
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips : I like to use the miniature but any chocolate chip will work. Milk, semi-sweet, dark, etc.
  • Melted Butter : I recommend using salted butter.
  • Large Egg

– Oreo Cookie Layer

  • One Package (14.3 oz) of Double-Stuf Oreo Cookies

– Brownie Layer

  • Boxed Brownie Mix : An 18.3 ounce box of brownie mix. It’s usually labeled as a ‘family-size’ package.
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips : Again, I like using the mini size but any chocolate chip will work.
  • Large Eggs : We want to add 2 eggs in the brownie mix to make the brownies more cake-like and not as gooey and fudgey.
  • Melted Butter
  • Milk : Use whatever milk you have in your fridge. Like 1%, 2%, or whole milk. I don’t recommend using a higher fat milk like half and half or heavy cream as they are too thick.

How to Make Easy Slutty Brownies (Step-by-Step Directions)

  • Prep : Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer : Add the dry chocolate chip cookie mix and the semi-sweet chocolate chips into a large mixing bowl. Use a mixing spoon or rubber spatula to mix it together. Pour in the melted butter and egg, and mix thoroughly to combine. The dough will feel slightly tacky and sticky. Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan. You may want to flour your hands or use a slightly wet spatula to spread it out.
  • Oreo Layer : Place the Oreo sandwich cookies in rows over the cookie dough, in even rows. You will use all the of the cookies. You may have to break some apart to get them to fit in an eve layer.
  • Brownie Layer : Add the dry brownie mix into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the chocolate chips. Add in the eggs, melted butter, and milk. Stir to combine until well mixed and no dry streaks remain of the dry brownie mix. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as you mix. Gently pour the brownie batter all over the top of the Oreo cookies. Use a spatula to evenly spread the brownie batter into an even layer over top the cookies.
  • Cook : Place the baking pan in the oven and cook for 45-50 minutes or until the top has set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with no wet batter on it.
  • Cool : Let the bars cool completely, inside the pan, for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares. To easily cut, pull the brownies out of the pan with the extra overhang from the parchment paper.

Why Are They Called Slutty Brownies?

I’ll be honest, I don’t love the name of these brownies. However, despite their wild name, which originates from the idea that the dessert is “naughty” or “overly indulgent”, this is a pretty common recipe nowadays. Not sure where it came from or who named them, but regardless, they are delicious treat with 3 layers of all the good stuff in life – chocolate chip cookie dough, Oreo cookies, and chocolate brownies.

Slutty brownies are a layered dessert that gets baked in a 9×13 pan. All you need to make slutty brownies are chocolate chip cookie dough, Oreo cookies, and a brownie mix. They can be super complex where every layer is made from scratch, or really easy (like this recipe) where the layers of packaged, store-bought convenient items.

Eat as a brownie or make it really over the top and serve these ‘ice cream sundae style’ – a slutty brownie, topped with a scoop of ice cream, and then chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and chopped nuts. Served this way, they don’t leave much to the imagination of just how sinful this treat can be.

How To Properly Store Slutty Brownies

These brownies can last for 3-4 days, stored at room temperature, inside an airtight container or bag. If you want to store them for longer, place them inside the fridge for up to 7 days. Let the bars sit at room temperature before serving, eat it cold from the fridge, or warm it up in the microwave.

To freeze these brownies, wrap the individual portions in plastic wrap and then again in foil. Place the wrapped squares inside a freezer-safe bag and store for up to 3 months. Let it thaw in the fridge or heat it up in the microwave to eat.

Recipe Tips

  • Use Parchment Paper : It’s best to use parchment paper so you have something to pull the brownies out of the pan by. Parchment paper also helps the brownies bake more evenly and prevents the bottom from browning or burning. I like to spray the pan first with cooking spray and then put my parchment paper in. The spray helps the paper adhere and stick to the pan so it doesn’t move around when you put the layers in.
  • Cool Down Time : It’s so important to let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 1 hour before cutting them. This helps the brownies set and makes it easier to cut. If you try to cut them without cooling them down, they will be gooey and hard to cut nicely into squares.
