Transform plain Oreo cookies into these adorable Oreo Crab Cookies with only a few ingredients like candy eyeballs, pull n peel twizzler candy, Oreos, and red candy melt chocolate! Kids love making these cute cookies that look like crabs and they're so fun to eat.

Ingredients

  • 24 Double Stuf Oreo Cookies
  • 1 package (14 oz) Twizzler Pull n' Peel Cherry Licorice
  • 1 bag (12 oz) red candy melts
  • 48 edible candy eyeballs

Instructions

  • Use a small knife to gently pry off the tops of the Oreo cookies. You want to try to keep all the white cream filling on one Oreo. Set them aside for now.

  • Create the 'crab legs' by separating the ropes on the pull n' peel Twizzlers. Lay all the ropes horizontally on a cutting board and cut them into 2-inch pieces. You need 6 legs per crab which is equal to 144 pieces.
1 package (14 oz) Twizzler Pull n' Peel Cherry Licorice
  • Gently press 6 'crab legs' into the white cream part of the Oreo cookie. Arrange them so they are spaced equally apart, and place 3 legs on each side of the cookie.
  • Microwave the red candy melts according to the directions on the back of the bag. Place the melted candy into a piping bag or sandwich baggie. Cut a small hole at the bottom corner of the piping bag or ziploc bag.
Use a dollop of the candy melts as 'glue' for the legs. Place the top piece of the Oreo cookie on top and gently press down to secure it.
1 bag (12 oz) red candy melts
  • Take the remaining red candy melts and cover the top of each Oreo cookie. Gently place two candy eyeballs onto each crab.

  • Let them set for about 15-30 minutes so the chocolate can harden and set. Enjoy!

Notes

Serving Size : You can make as many, or as few, of these Oreo crab cookies that you need. Just make sure that you have 6 legs per cookie + 2 candy eyeballs. The serving size& nutrition information for this recipe is for 1 crab cookie with a yield of 24 crab cookies.
Candy Melts : If you can't find these (easily found at craft stores or the cake decor aisle at Walmart) then red icing can be used instead. The icing won't harden and set like the candy melts will.
