Trix Cereal Treats are gooey krispie treats loaded with marshmallows and mini Trix cereal! Kids and adults will love the bright colors and fruity buttery flavor of these cereal treats.

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 bag (12 oz) marshmallows
  • 8 cups Mini Trix Cereal
  • cups white chocolate chips optional

Instructions

  • Lightly spray a 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray. You can also line it with parchment paper
*I like to spray the pan first, that way the parchment paper sticks to the pan better because of the cooking spray.
*I recommend measuring out the Trix cereal and having it ready to go, that way you can immediately add it in when needed.
  • In a large pot, over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add in the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
6 tablespoons salted butter, 1 bag (12 oz) marshmallows
  • Remove the pot from the heat and quickly add the mini Trix cereal. Stir until the cereal is well coated in the marshmallow mixture.
    8 cups Mini Trix Cereal
  • Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared pan. Gently press it into the pan using a rubber spatula or a piece of wax paper/parchment paper.
  • Let the cereal treats sit at room temperature and cool for 1 hour. Cut into squares and enjoy!

If Using White Chocolate

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Add the white chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth and completely melted.
    1½ cups white chocolate chips
  • Cut the Trix cereal treats into squares.
  • Dip the bottom of each treat into the melted white chocolate, letting any excess drip off. Place the dipped treats onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  • Use a spoon, or transfer the melted white chocolate into a ziplock bag with the corner snipped, to drizzle the remaining melted white chocolate over top each cereal treat.
  • Allow the white chocolate to completely set before serving. Place the treats in the fridge to speed up the process (about 15 minutes) or let them set at room temperature (about 30 minutes).

Notes

White Chocolate : You can also use white chocolate baking bars, white melting wafers, white candy melts, or vanilla almond bark.
