Ingredients Needed

There are three different mixes to make for this recipe so that you get the same 3 layer look of classic candy corn. So yes you will need a few bowls and some prep time, but the end result is worth it! Bonus is that the layers all use the same ingredients so be sure to keep the ingredients out on the countertop for easy access when making these crispy cereal treat bars.

Generously spray a 9-inch round cake pan with nonstick cooking spray, spread with softened butter, or shortening. Set aside.

Make The Yellow Layer : Add the marshmallows and butter into a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 45 seconds. Stir the mixture well and microwave another 15-20 seconds. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.

Stir in the vanilla and yellow food coloring and mix until combined.

Add the cereal and mix until everything is coated in the marshmallow mixture.

Dump the cereal into the prepared pan and shape it into a 2-inch ring around the outer edge of the pan.

Tips For Making Rice Krispie Treats That Look Like Candy Corn

  • Fresh Marshmallows : Anytime you’re making Rice Krispie treats, I always recommend using a fresh and unopened bag of marshmallows. This will result in the softest and gooiest marshmallow treats.
  • Butter : The recipe calls for salted butter and no additional salt. If you are using unsalted butter then you may want to add a pinch of salt to each layer. Just a very, very small pinch.
  • Use Gel Food Colors : Gel food colors are more concentrated than their liquid counterparts which results in a more vibrant color that needs less product.
  • Spray Hands With Cooking Spray : I recommend lightly spraying your clean hands and the mixing spoon (used to stir the Rice Krispies mixtures) with nonstick cooking spray. This will help make mixing the treats easier and will stop them from sticking to your hands or the pan. You can also use the buttered side of the butter wrapper to spread the Rice Krispies into the pan with.
  • Rice Krispie Pops : You can insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of the candy corn treats after the treats are cut to create cute ‘rice krispie pops’.

There is no vanilla extract in the white layer because we want to keep it as white in color as possible. Vanilla extract will affect that.

Rice Krispies Candy Corn Pops : After cutting into slices insert a popsicle into the bottom of the candy corn for a rice krispies pop treat.
Spray Hands With Cooking Spray : I recommend lightly spraying your clean hands and the mixing spoon (used to stir the Rice Krispies mixtures) with nonstick cooking spray.
