Slow Cooker Beef Tips Recipe With Fresh Mushrooms

This set-it-and-forget-it crockpot dinner recipe is so simple to make, and your family is going to love this one.

Simply dump everything into your crockpot, stir it up, and let the slow cooker work its magic.

You’ll come home to a house that smells amazing and everyone will think you spend hours slaving away in the kitchen – when in reality, it probably took you about 2 minutes 🤍

My family loves these tender beef tips served over some Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes.

Only 6 Ingredients Needed

  1. Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  2. Beef Broth
  3. Onion Soup Mix
  4. Garlic : You can use fresh garlic cloves that have been minced or pressed, use chopped garlic from a jar, or garlic paste can all be used.
  5. Stew Meat : This is an easy option because it comes already chunked into large pieces. However, stew meat usually contains a lot of fatty pieces and more cartilage pieces on the meat. I prefer using something else such as sirloin roast, skirt steak, or flank steak.
  6. Sliced Fresh Mushrooms

How To Store Leftovers

Store any leftovers, separate from what you served it over (i.e – mashed potatoes, etc), inside an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Reheat individual portions in the microwave, or on the stove top over medium heat, until warmed through. If needed, add some additional broth or water when reheating.

Can I Make This Without Mushrooms?

Yes, you can leave out the fresh mushrooms and instead use cream of chicken soup or cream of onion soup.

What Other Types of Beef Can I Use?

I don’t love using stew meat because although it’s simple with no prep needed, the pieces are fattier and have more cartilage type chunks on them. I prefer using a leaner sirloin roast that I cut into large chunks.

You can also use chunked flank steak or skirt steak. Or buy a larger piece of beef roast and cut it and trim it into large chunks.

Serving Suggestions For Beef Tips

My family loves these beef tips, with some extra gravy sauce, served over mashed potatoes – try these Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes or Boursin Cheese Mashed Potatoes.

You could also make it real simple and use instant potato flakes that you prepare with boiling water. Or purchase some ready-to-eat mashed potatoes from the grocery store.

Other serving options include cooked rice (white rice or brown rice), cooked pasta, or egg noodles.

Serving Tips : My family loves these beef tips, with some extra gravy sauce, served over mashed potatoes – try these Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes or Boursin Cheese Mashed Potatoes.
You could also make it real simple and use instant potato flakes that you prepare with boiling water. Or purchase some ready-to-eat mashed potatoes from the grocery store.
Other serving options include cooked rice (white rice or brown rice), cooked pasta, or egg noodles.
Beef Broth : I prefer using full salted beef broth or beef stock when I make crockpot recipes. The longer cook time tends to mute flavors, which is why I use the full salt version. You could also use water + bouillon or beef bone broth is another great option.
Stew Meat : I don’t love using stew meat because although it’s simple with no prep needed, the pieces are fattier and have more cartilage type chunks on them. I prefer using a leaner sirloin roast that I cut into large chunks.
You can also use chunked flank steak or skirt steak. Or buy a larger piece of beef roast and cut it and trim it into large chunks.
Cook Time : I prefer this recipe cooked low & slow (it’s best to do that for beef recipes because it makes the meat fall apart tender). However, you could cook it on HIGH heat for 4-5 hours if needed.
