What Are Some Changes & Variations I Can Make To This Casserole Recipe?

  • Marinara Sauce/Pasta Sauce : Use any jarred or canned pasta sauce you like! You can use tomato basil, four cheese, Italian sausage, mini meatball sauce, or a garden vegetable sauce. This is the same jarred sauce that you would use over spaghetti noodles.
  • Meatballs : Use beef meatballs, Angus beef meatballs, turkey meatballs, or your favorite plant-based meatballs. Whatever you use, you need to make sure they’re fully cooked before adding them to the casserole.
  • Seasonings : If wanted, add more seasonings to this casserole. Add some red pepper chili flakes for some spice, add basil, oregano, garlic powder, or more Italian seasoning. You can even add a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese.

Notes

Meatballs : A 20 ounce bag of frozen meatballs is about 20-24 meatballs. Make sure you are using smaller meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, for this casserole. The meatballs need to be cooked before using in the casserole. Frozen meatballs are already precooked so you are good to go if using those.
Pasta Sauce : Use any variety – chunky vegetable, mini meatball, sausage, tomato and basil, four cheese, etc.
